Chromebooks

Chromebooks are owned, managed and monitored by Provo City School District. Please monitor your students’ online activity as these are PCSD devices and actively monitored for CIPA compliance. Please use the Chromebook for classroom assignments and study only. Even while in use at home, internet access is filtered to keep students safe.

Common Wifi Problems

To connect to your network at home, select your wireless network and enter your network password. Follow these steps if the wireless connection fails:

Select the system menu in the lower right-hand corner.
Select the your wireless network.
Select “Disconnect”
Select “Connect”

If your Chromebook is still having problems connecting, restart the Chromebook by holding down the Power Button for 10 seconds.

Call the help desk if this does not solve the problem.

For technical assistance: submit a work order or call 801-373-2188 Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

If you are unable to login because you don’t know your student’s email, password, or student number. Please call your school’s secretary. They can assist you with that information.

Chromebook Software

Provo City School District controls and monitors software on all Chromebooks. Software updates are sent out on a regular basis.

Blocked Content

If your teacher posts a YouTube video for classroom study and the video is blocked by our filter, Please contact your teacher to have the block removed. The Learning Resource Officer at the school can also unblock it.

If you need a Chromebook app and it’s blocked, please request that it be unblocked through your teacher. Your teacher can submit a request to tech support.

Zoom

Zoom is an online video-conferencing application that teachers can use to communicate with students. Don’t try to install Zoom because it’s already installed on all Chromebooks. Your teacher will send you a meeting ID before you connect.
