On October 17, 2017, Timpanogos first graders visited the Museum of Natural Curiosity. In an effort to provide the best learning opportunities possible, first grade teachers at Timpanogos applied for a scholarship provided by the museum that allowed the entire first grade to go to the museum. At the museum, students were able to wander, explore, question and observe the things around them. Students participated in four rotations: exploring the rainforest and the creatures that live there, playing in Kidopolis (where they had the chance to be community helpers), investigating the Waterworks area and participating in a science lesson about sinking and floating objects.
The Museum of Natural Curiosity is located at Thanksgiving Point and along with these interactive experiences, offers more than 400 activities. It was a great way for our young first graders’ minds to explore and succeed, all due to the motivation Timpanogos teachers demostrated in applying for the scholarship and giving their students an exciting learning experience.
