Given the unprecedented circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic, questions have been asked about the fairness and viability of grades for the fourth quarter. While teachers districtwide are doing a remarkable job of converting their courses to online delivery with little prior preparation, many of our students and teachers continue to face challenges, including difficulties with technology and/or access to the internet. This transition has been difficult for everyone, and we are sensitive to its impact on students’ grades.

With this in mind, we are reviewing our current grading standards and scales with administrators, counselors, and teachers, with some consideration to issuing Pass/Fail in place of letter grades. We are currently reaching out to the Utah State Board of Education for further guidance.
