As School Library Appreciation Month comes to an end, we would like to wish you all a happy Día de los niños/Día de los libros, which translates to Children’s Day/Book Day.

Commonly known as Día, every year on April 30th we celebrate the day of children, families, and reading. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. It is a daily commitment to linking children and their families to diverse books, languages and cultures.

The goals of Día are to:
- Celebrate children and connect them to the world of learning through books, stories and libraries.
- Nurture cognitive and literacy development in ways that honor and embrace a child’s home language and culture.
- Introduce families to community resources that provide opportunities for learning through multiple literacies.
- Recognize and respect culture, heritage and language as powerful tools for strengthening families and communities.

We invite all to join us in celebrating Día and to share your festivities with us.

Un Día Especial Para Terminar El Mes De Las Bibliotecas Escolares

Ahora que el Mes de Agradecimiento a las Bibliotecas Escolares llega a su fin, nos gustaría desearles a todos un feliz Día de los niños/Día de los libros.

Conocido popularmente como Día, el 30 de abril se celebra cada año el día de los niños, las familias y la lectura. La celebración se enfoca en la importancia de la literatura para los niños de todos los orígenes lingüísticos y culturas. Es un compromiso continuo para conectar a los niños y sus familias con diversos libros, idiomas y culturas.

Los objetivos del Día son:
- Celebrar a los niños y conectarlos con el mundo del aprendizaje a través de los libros, los cuentos y las bibliotecas.
- Fomentar el desarrollo cognitivo y la alfabetización de manera que se honre y se acepte la lengua y la cultura del niño.
- Presentar a las familias los recursos de la comunidad que ofrecen oportunidades de aprendizaje a través de múltiples alfabetizaciones.
- Reconocer y respetar la cultura, el paisaje y el idioma como herramientas poderosas para fortalecer a las familias y las comunidades.
