Telescope View of Eclipse at Provost

Today’s eclipse was magical and yet, the students at Provost were in for a little extra magic. They saw the eclipse close up, two different views from two different telescopes. One telescope had a view so close you could see sunspots and the other fit the full eclipse through its lens.

Provost sixth grade students hosted the event. They prepared by learning about the eclipse, eclipse viewing safety and by creating several eclipse box viewers. When younger students came to the viewing area, the sixth graders showed them how to use the box viewers, monitored the telescope lines and passed around the eclipse glasses. They also answered questions and asked a few of their own.

All the students were thrilled by the view they saw through the telescope. It was a memorable day at Provost!
