Policy No. 7300 Relationships with Law Enforcement, Child Protective Agencies and the County Health Department
The Provo City School District Board of Education recognizes that the primary responsibility for maintaining order and proper conduct in schools falls upon those who work within each school. Staff members are responsible for holding students accountable for any violations of school rules, which may also include minor violations of the law, that may occur during schools hours or during school sanctioned activities.
Law enforcement or other government agencies will be called to assist in cases of threats to the health and safety of students, employees or others. This includes, but may not be limited to, bomb threats, mass demonstrations including threatening behavior, individual threats to inflict bodily harm, trafficking in illegal and prohibited drugs or the scheduling of any event where large crowds may prove difficult to handle.
Information regarding any major violation of the law will be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
The district wishes to develop and maintain positive working relationships with law enforcement and other government agencies. The superintendent or designee will meet with law enforcement, child protective authorities and county health officials to develop working relationships and establish procedures in accordance with Utah State Law.
