Policy No. 2500 Curriculum Materials Planning
The Provo City Board of Education acknowledges that a strong curriculum is an essential tool in the hands of teachers to foster student learning and the mastery of standards. The ability to purchase necessary, up-to date curriculum materials – whether in book form, electronic subscription, or otherwise – requires intentional, advance budgetary planning. Funding for curriculum materials will be provided through an on-going financial commitment.
The Board directs the superintendent to generate (and annually update) a curriculum materials replacement cycle. Further, the superintendent is directed to develop this information in a manner that will include the number of replacement materials to be required per grade/course, along with cost projections.
The superintendent will provide this information annually to the Board as part of the budget development process.
