Just before the end of the school year, incoming Superintendent Wendy Dau visited several of our schools, where students, teachers, faculty, and parents had a chance to ask questions and learn more about her. We recorded these conversations and will share them for the next few months in the hopes you’ll get to know Wendy on a more personal level.

In this fourth installment, a Timpview High parent asked Dau about her history working with parents to improve school life and student learning. Wendy Dau dove into both time-tested and traditional methods of school connection (like Parent Teacher Conferences) and more innovative outreach methods.

Dau touched on her previous district’s “Canyoneering Nights,” a regularly scheduled meeting for multilingual families to learn how to more easily navigate school life and chart a clear path for success. She spoke about Parent Square, a translation tool for parents to send real-time messaging to parents in their native language and create feedback loops to hear from parents and problem-solve.
