Franklin Elementary fourth grade students recently had an opportunity to get a closer look at water through an interactive presentation about the water cycle.
The presentation, also known as the “Storm Water Van”, was presented by Jenny Devlin from the county office. This lesson is taught annually to each fourth grade classroom throughout Utah County.
Students were amazed as they learned about the toxins and pollutants that affect Utah County’s drinking water. They were able to pour pollutants into a storm water drain model so that they could see the difference between clean and dirty water. Jenny taught the students the importance of keeping water clean by introducing the phrase “only rain in the drain!”.
Through this hands-on presentation, Franklin students were able to learn all about the water cycle and were also able to discover ways that they can help keep the water clean.
