Our Independence students are pretty Chill. And when I say that, I am referring to the fact that they are participating in the Chill Salt Lake City program held at Brighton. Chill SLC was established in 2003 and has served more than 1,000 youth across the Salt Lake Valley. Three different sports have been established in order to make the program year-round. Through these programs, youth learn important life lessons such as respect, patience, persistence, courage, responsibility and pride.
For six weeks, some of our Independence students will learn how to snowboard for free in this program. The resort pays for the gear rentals, lessons and ski lift tickets. The students are provided with a free meal and learn about these important topics as they master a new skill. We are excited that our students get to have this opportunity and we hope they will come away with a better understanding of life, working hard and a new skill.
