It’s that magical time of year when hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls– Halloween is nearly here! What better way to embrace the spirit of the season than by curling up with a good book? It’s the perfect time to check out our free-to-use Sora App, your family’s gateway to a world of Halloween-themed stories and more.
If you’re unfamiliar with Sora, it’s time to get acquainted. Sora is our digital library that puts thousands of eBooks and audiobooks at your fingertips – all for free! It’s your portal to a world of literary adventures and is available to all Provo City School District students and staff.
Sora is your always-open library, full of free ebooks and audiobooks from our school’s digital community library.
Students can personalize their reading experience by adding bookmarks, highlights, and notes and finding definitions for new and unfamiliar words, making every book their own. They can even add public libraries to their account to access more books.
Sora even includes options to adjust audiobook volume and speed and a dyslexic text option to enlarge and simplify fonts.
Moreover, Sora offers a diverse selection of English, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Swedish, Japanese, Chinese, and even hard-to-find Portuguese books.
Once you and your student borrow a book from the digital library, it returns itself, so you never need to worry about late fees.
Download the Sora app on your Chromebook or personal device and select your favorite ebooks and audiobooks in your preferred language now, or visit the Sora web page to start exploring!
Or, access our PowerPoint for directions on using Sora.
To celebrate the Halloween season, Sora has curated a spooky Halloween booklist sure to deliver chills and thrills. From classic ghost stories to modern paranormal mysteries, you’ll find something to suit every taste. Explore tales of witches, monsters, and things that go bump in the night – all with just a few taps on your device. Here’s a few Sora curations to pick up before October begins.
We hope you’ll make the most of Sora and immerse yourself in some spine-tingling tales to hold your young reader’s interest. Happy reading, and have a happy Halloween season!
