With little more than a rope, a carabineer clip, and their resolve, Independence High students braved the frigid banks of the Provo River in their yearly trial of strength and bravery.
Members of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) participated in this annual river crossing activity, hauling themselves along the rope to cross the sixty-foot section of the Provo River.
This activity is one of many that help the JROTC cadets at Independence High School practice their communication and leadership abilities. Students who participate in Independence High’s JROTC program learn to be steadfast, duty-bound, and service-oriented.
Some students were initially worried about the river crossing, but with the help of their teachers and peers, they were able to do it with ease.
Congratulation to our students for successfully crossing the river and displaying courage and calm through their challenge.
