The Simon Institute recently held it’s 13th Annual Symposium in San Antonio, Texas. The Simon Institute is a non-profit group that promotes the adoption of best practices and professionalism in the cleaning industry. Provo City School District was honored to receive multiple awards at this prestigious national event.
Jeff Hawkins, District Custodial Services Coordinator, and Amber Hundley, Head Custodian from Provo Peaks Elementary, were honored to accept the following awards:
The Mark Reimers Cleaning for Health Award which is awarded for distinguished and innovative service in the implementation of the (OS1) Cleaning Process to improve school health, safety and sustainability.
A Green Cleaning Program of Merit Award for Provo Peaks Elementary School for receiving an audit score of 85 in their implementation of the (OS1) process. Provo Peaks Elementary is the second school in the district to receive this award. Dixon Middle School was presented with this award in 2011. Provo Peaks Elementary and Dixon Middle School are the only K-12 schools in the United States to be a recipient of this distinguished award. An Outstanding Cleaning Worker Medal was presented to Amber Hundley for her outstanding work in leading her cleaning team at Provo Peaks Elementary.
In a separate ceremony, Outstanding Cleaning Worker Medals will also be awarded to the following members of Amber’s team:
Jaelynn Hopkins Coleman Melanie Walker Simon Warner J.D. Ferre
