With college acceptances rolling in and the excitement of graduation looming on the horizon, it's...
Hello Lighthouse, written and illustrated by Sophie Blackall, is the next book we will focus on in our summer reading series.
This book, winner of the 2019 Caldecott Award, follows the story of a lighthouse keeper and compares his life happenings to things that are happening to the ocean next to him. As the man fills out his daily log book, readers will be able to follow along and discover what life is truly like living in a lighthouse.
Sophie Blackall, who you might remember was the illustrator for Finding Winnie, was inspired to write this book after seeing a picture of a lighthouse at a flea market. She could not get the image out of her mind, but kept it in her back pocket as she was working on Finding Winnie at the time. The illustrations will “wow” individuals of all ages and the expressive words will formulate a sense of nostalgia and wonder.
Follow along as we read Hello Lighthouse tomorrow at 12pm LIVE on our Facebook page.
