Last Tuesday we had a Facebook Live Reading of “Click, Clack Moo Cows That Type” for our PCSD Summer Reading Series and to follow up with that reading here are a few activities, all related to the book, that kids of all ages can have fun doing.
This idea came from the educator’s spin on it. All you need for this activity is construction paper, black marker, white paper, scissors and some optional cow clipart. To start have your child draw a very large cow, or have them trace a picture of a cow. Cut out the outline of the cow then cut out two small pieces (about .5 inch square) of paper and fold them in half. Cut two small slits in the crease of the paper and use that as a stand for the cow. Have the kids color in small “blankets” for the cows (they should be large enough to cover the cow). Have each blanket be unique. Then, with your help, make a note that tells farmer brown what blanket each cow wants. Finally, drape the blanket on each cow. For more detailed instructions please visit theeducatorsspinonit.com.
For this activity all that is required is something to play music on. Encourage kids to create a musical reenactment of Click Clack Moo. To further advance the activity, think of adding a scene where the cows are trying to learn how to type letters and form words, maybe to the tune of “Old McDonald.” This idea was taken from this website, scholastic, take a look at it for more information.
To share your child’s completed activity(ies), share a photo on social media using the hashtag #PCSDSummerStorytime.
