Spring Break PreK – 12 Student Learning Activities 

During the week of Spring Break, parents might choose to continue student learning activities with their children. The activities listed below will help to keep students engaged and learning while school is out for Spring Break.

Please note:  These are listed in grade order, from Preschool to High School. We hope these might be fun, family learning times!

Preschool

• Reading: Hey Preschoolers, let’s read a story together. Today’s story is Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen. Parents, you can access the book by on storylineonline.net here. 
• Math: Choose a math game to practice shapes, counting, measuring, and more at uen.org here!
• Science: Splash and Bubbles: Help our kelp!  Help Ripple keep the kelp forest clean at pbskids.org here!
• PE: Get outside and play! Go for a walk/jog/run, ride your bike, go on a hike with your family (play catch, shoot hoops, play soccer, play freeze tag. Remember social distancing!)
  • Raining: visit Go Noodle to check-out ideas to move with your family 

Kindergarten

• Virtual Field trip to a farm! Parents, you can access the field trip on Youtube here. 
• Learn Computer Science!  Learn to make your own game, app, or computer drawing on code.org.
• Practice math facts and explore other fun math games. Parents, you can access the site at roomrecess.com.
• PE: Get outside and play! Go for a walk/jog/run, ride your bike, go on a hike with your family (play catch, shoot hoops, play soccer, play freeze tag. Remember social distancing!)
  • Raining: visit Go Noodle to check out ideas to move with your family

First Grade

• Reading: Hey first graders, let’s read a story together. Today’s story is Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen. Parents, you can access the book by on storylineonline.net here.

• Art: Time to be creative! Draw a picture to the following prompt. Add as many extra details as you would like. Have fun and be creative! Invent a new pet for your family! What does it look like? Does it have hair? What color is it? Give it a name!
• Learn Computer Science!  Learn to make your own game, app, or computer drawing on code.org here.
• Practice math facts and explore other fun math games. Parents, you can access this at roomreccess.com
• PE: Get outside and play! Go for a walk/jog/run, ride your bike, go on a hike with your family (play catch, shoot hoops, play soccer, play freeze tag. Remember social distancing!)

Second Grade

Third Grade

• Virtual field trip: Monterey Bay Aquarium: Be delighted by the antics of our sea otters or mellow out to the drifting of jellies. With ten live cams to choose from, you can experience the wonder of the ocean no matter where you are. Visit Monterey Bay here.
• Art: Time to be creative!  Draw a picture to the following prompt.  Add as many extra details as you would like. Have fun and be creative!
  • Combine your two favorite holidays to create one awesome holiday!  Give it a name and draw what you think it would look like.

• Writing: You are now a historian!  Continue keeping your journal using the medium of your choice (examples include, a notebook, Google Slides, Google Docs, etc). Each day, reflect on what you are seeing either from the news, social media, or your own family. Consider how the world, our nation, your community, friends and family are responding to this pandemic.
• Learn Computer Science!  Learn to make your own game, app, or computer drawing here on code.org.
• Practice math facts and explore other fun math games. Parents you can access this at roomrecess.com here.

• Writing: You are now a historian!  Continue keeping your journal using the medium of your choice (examples include, a notebook, Google Slides, Google Docs, etc). Each day, reflect on what you are seeing either from the news, social media, or your own family. Consider how the world, our nation, your community, friends and family are responding to this pandemic.
• Build real working apps, games and websites using blocks, JavaScript, CSS, HTML and more. Visit code.org here.

Seventh & Eight Grade

• ELA: Read a book or poetry for 20-30 minutes at online library.utah.gov here. 
• Health: Journey on a Health maze “Conquer Castle of Disease”  at harcourtschool.com here.
• Mindfulness: Take a journey in relaxation at the amazing Monterey Bay Aquarium. Choose one or both:
  • Morning Meditocian with the Kelp Forest  on YouTube
  • Morning Meditocian with the Jellies on YouTube
• PE: Get outside for 60 minutes! Go for a walk/jog/run, ride your bike, go on a hike with your family. Play catch, shoot hoops, play soccer, play freeze tag. Remember social distancing! 
  • Raining: Try a no equipment workout from Beach Body Kids  on vimeo.com here. 

Ninth – Twelfth Grade

• ELA: Read a book or poetry for 20-30 minutes at online library.utah.gov here. 
• Health: How much do you know about preventing skin cancer. Join this investigation to make your safe in the sun at science links.com here! 
• Mindfulness: Take a journey in relaxation at the amazing Monterey Bay Aquarium. Choose one or both:
  • Morning Meditocian with the Kelp Forest  on YouTube
  • Morning Meditocian with the Jellies on YouTube
