In their first home game since fall 2021, Timpview High School’s Thunderbirds celebrated their return to the field with a thrilling 33-29 victory over Skyridge High School Falcons, marking a triumphant housewarming after construction had sidelined games and cost them the home court advantage. Fans showed out, filling the courts before the opening kickoff. Timpview High and our families rallied, showing support and excitement for the newly-minted field.
Yet, Timpview faced severe turbulence in the first half of the game. Timpview trailed by 15 points at halftime. Skyridge was up 29–14.
It wasn’t until the second half that Timpview dialed in with a new game plan, and Timpview’s defense locked Skyridge down. Skyridge did not score a single point in the second half, giving quarterback Carson Rasmussen and wide receivers Jaron and Kennan Pula space to work offensive magic through a patient passing game. Rasumussen’s final touchdown pass to Jaron Pula with just six seconds left sealed the win, showcasing the Thunderbirds’ resilience and determination.
As Alex Tumalip highlights in his coverage on KSL, Rasmussen patiently navigated a stingy Skyridge defense, ultimately delivering the game-winning touchdown. “I just trust my guys to go make plays; that’s why I believe we have the best wide receiver corps in the nation,” Rasmussen said, reflecting on his connection with his teammates.
The Thunderbirds’ victory not only marked a win on the scoreboard but also a memorable first game in their newly completed stadium, setting the stage for a promising season ahead.
