With college acceptances rolling in and the excitement of graduation looming on the horizon, it's...
Congratulations to our Timpview and Provo High School DECA students Central Region Conference Winners!
For those unfamiliar with DECA, DECA stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America. DECA is a not-for-profit organization preparing high school and college students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management globe-wide. Students learn employable, entrepreneurial skills and put those skills to the test through DECA events, which, to quote DECA’s site, “involves students in both a written component such as an exam or report and an interactive component with a professional industry serving as a judge.”
The task of interfacing with a professional in a role-playing scenario might seem a terrifying prospect to most students, but the process models real-world scenarios that business leaders face regularly. By preparing students through lower-stakes role-playing scenarios to test out pitches and problem-shooting in real-time, students can comfortably act as a force for good in the workplace and feel supported in stepping into leadership roles.
We’d like to congratulate all contestants and regional winners for participating in DECA, and wish the winners luck in the upcoming event on February 24-25, 2022 at the Salt Palace arena!
