There are more to rocks than meets the eye, and that means teaching about them as well. Several fourth grade teachers participated in a geology workshop on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Grandview. The purpose of this workshop was to enrich teachers’ understanding of the science curriculum. Teachers conducted 20 different experiments containing rocks, minerals and fossils. They learned how to set up small labs within the classroom and received 30 lab books and materials to better teach students about geology. The workshop was a great opportunity for teachers to take an abstract idea and make it a concrete example for their students. We are grateful for teachers who are dedicated to their curriculum and take the time to make ideas stick when teaching students!
