Rock Canyon Elementary sixth graders took “note” of their favorite instrument as they learned about the various musical instruments they could play this year.
At Rock Canyon, sixth grade students have the option to take orchestra and band classes. In order to help decide which instruments the students will play in those classes, the students go through a selection process. During this process, students are able to learn about the various instruments they could play and which instrument would be the best fit for them.
These included clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, cello, viola and violin. The students were able to learn how the instrument feels, sounds and what each instrument looks like.
The music instructors were able to use this time to determine which instrument was the best fit for each student. This all depended on student preference, their lip shape, whether or not they have braces, their rhythm, tone and much more.
All in all, this was a great experience for the students as they got to learn about various types of musical instruments and take note of which instrument they enjoyed the most.
