The Utah Dance Film Festival honored Provo High student filmmakers Emma Parke and Emmeline Dally along with the members of the Dance Company and AP Art students with the “Outstanding Young Filmmaker” award at their 2024 Fall show. The recognition, awarded on Saturday, August 17, 2024, celebrates the students’ creativity and excellence in their collaborative dance film, The Star.
Drawing inspiration from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s twelve-pointed star-shaped tile, the film integrates dance and visual art, reflecting the intricate interplay of geometry and spirituality. Selected from over 300 submissions worldwide, The Star stood out for its innovative approach and artistic depth, earning its place among the 35 films chosen for screening at the festival.
Student directors and creators Parke and Dally spearheaded the choreography and art components, collaborating with the Dance Company and AP Art students to make the mesmerizing work of art. Their recognition at the Utah Dance Film Festival underscores the students’ ability to blend tradition with innovation, creating a work that resonates on multiple levels.
Provo City School District is incredibly proud of these talented students and their remarkable achievements. We congratulate the Dance Company, AP Art students, and their dedicated teachers for this well-deserved honor.
