“I nominated Miss Cimenski because she’s always a teacher. She’s a teacher you can be friends with,” shared Shoreline Middle School student Hunter Ford, followed by Brody Thurgood: “Miss Cimenski is that kind of teacher who helps you and comes down to your level. She’s that kind of teacher.”
Brody and Hunter are talking about Jordan Cimenski, a spectacular Shoreline Middle School English Teacher who received the Provo Way Award through their nomination and the nomination of a third student, Noah Smith.
Through monthly Provo Way awards, the Provo City School District and Board of Education aim to highlight and celebrate the positive impact that students, teachers, administrators, parents, and staff have on our community.
English is more than just a subject; it’s a tool for expressing oneself and connecting with the world. Jordan Cimenski not only teaches language arts but embodies it, bringing stories and lessons to life in ways that resonate with her students. This passion for the written word and her dedication to student success is why students like Brody, Hunter, and Noah were compelled to nominate her for the Provo Way Award.
Brody wrote, “Cimenski is a really amazing language arts teacher, and she is even writing a book.” Hunter similarly expressed his amazement at Cimenski’s writing endeavors.
Clearly, they’re both enamored with a teacher who lives what she teaches—or, in this case, writes what she teaches.
Lastly, to quote Noah Smith’s written nomination:
“She makes learning fun and makes me want to pay attention to class instead of goofing off.”
We love student nominations.
Thank you, Jordan, and congratulations.
