You can find him at the crack of dawn– sometimes even earlier and often later– keeping Provo’s schools and school networks safe, secure, and reliable. We’re talking about Steve Ritchie, our Senior Network Technician.
Between oversight and maintenance of our district’s computer networks, Steve ensures reliable connectivity from morning until night, troubleshoots issues on the fly, and implements security measures to support efficient and secure digital learning environments.
Chad Duncan, our Director of Technology, painted a picture of Ritchie’s workday best:
“Steve is one of the unsung heroes. He gets up in the middle of the night– 3 a.m., 4 a.m.– to fix school issues. They don’t even know that he’s been there because things are functioning when they arrive.
“We appreciate him more than he knows, and as a staff, we all appreciate working with him.”
He’s a linchpin that holds our district fastened tight and learning smoothly. Those who know him can’t overstate how valuable he is.
“This place would not run without Ritchie on our staff,” said Suzy Cox, Innovative Learning Director. “We are just so grateful for everything he does.”
Matt Morden, the Tech Department’s Administrative Assistant and Ritchie’s nominator, best encapsulated Ritchie’s efforts in his nomination:
“Working with Steve at the Technology Department has been a pleasure. It’s been great to see him in action and the people he affects in our department and here in the district. Thanks, Steve.”
Thank you, Steve Ritchie, for holding up the district, and congratulations on your award.
