“I nominated Malia because she is a leader at Timpanogos,” shared Timpanogos Elementary’s Special Education Teacher, Amelia Spencer. She nominated fellow Special Education Teacher Malia Siufanua for the Provo Way Award.
The Provo City School District and Board of Education awarded five Provo Way awards last month. The Provo Way Award is an opportunity for the district to celebrate the positive things students, teachers, administrators, parents, and staff do for the community.
This week, we congratulate Malia Siufanua for receiving the Provo Way Award. Stellar Special Education Teachers, as demonstrated by Siufanua, display unwavering dedication by implementing personalized learning plans, fostering a supportive classroom environment, and utilizing innovative strategies such as differentiated instruction to ensure the academic and social success of each student with diverse needs. Moreover, they must be empathetic community builders. They need to make people feel safe and cared for. They’re qualities that Malia has in spades. To quote her nomination:
“I’m new here, and she’s been great at making people feel welcome and leading the team. General education teachers love working with her, and I’ve loved working with her– this has just been an excellent team.”
Thank you, Malia, and congratulations.
