“I nominated Deann Brown because she goes above and beyond when it comes to educating students,” said Joshua Smith, Rock Canyon Behavior Specialist. Deann is a teacher at Rock Canyon Elementary, and she received the Provo Way Award last month through Josh’s nomination.
The Provo City School District and Board of Education awards Provo Way awards each month to celebrate the positive things students, teachers, administrators, parents, and staff do for the community.
This week, we congratulate Deann for receiving the Provo Way Award. The teachers who last with us the longest are those who care. It’s not something you can fake. Great teachers can make their classroom a safe space to build positive and long-lasting social and emotional regulatory skills—skills that will matter just as much as content-related skill acquisition. And the best teachers can balance it all every day. Deann is that teacher. To quote the rest of Joshua’s nomination:
“She’s compassionate, dedicated, caring, and has a heart of gold. She is strongly dedicated to ensuring her students receive an outstanding education. Mrs. Brown teaches her students the importance of making good choices, being respectful, and being kind to others. She does all this on top of giving them the education they deserve.”
Thank you, Deann, and congratulations.
