“Aurora has been phenomenal,” said Josh Smith, Rock Canyon Elementary Behavior Specialist. “She’s been amazing for our school.”
Josh is talking about Aurora Yenchik, a Wellness Coach and Mentor at Rock Canyon Elementary, who received the Provo Way Award last May through nominations by Josh and Rock Canyon ELL Instructor Abby Hart.
The Provo City School District and Board of Education grant monthly Provo Way awards to celebrate the positive contributions made by students, teachers, administrators, parents, and staff to our community.
This week, we congratulate Aurora for receiving the Provo Way Award. Wellness Coaches and Mentors take on the challenging task of guiding students through emotional and behavioral hurdles, offering support and strategies that foster resilience and well-being.
Few offer personalized strategies to help students navigate their challenges, both in and out of the classroom, as effectively as Aurora, as mentioned in Josh’s nomination:
“To see the care that you put into any struggle they have, in helping them with their schoolwork and many other aspects, it’s been pretty awesome to watch. You’re a great coworker and example to these kids.”
Thank you, Aurora, and congratulations.
