Described by the Nevermore website as “Dark and dazzling, bizarre and beautiful,” Nevermore – The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe is a unique gothic opera about the master of macabre literature, Edgar Allen Poe. To further quote:
“Through its use of stunning stagecraft, underscored verse, and haunting music, Nevermore blends fact and fiction to create a fascinating and moving theatrical experience that is difficult to describe but impossible to forget.”
Nevermore is an intricate play—with more than 200 lighting cues, elaborate blocking schemes, detailed era costuming, and “haunting harmonies,” to borrow again from the site—but it is dazzling, despite its dark content. For anyone looking for a gothic story full of grim woe this November, come view Nevermore and live through the eyes of the prolific Edgar Allan Poe.
Enjoy a performance at Provo High at 7:00 PM on November 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, or 25, 2025.
Nevermore is written, composed, and directed by Catalyst Theatre’s Artistic Director, Jonathan Christenson. Bretta Gerecke designed the physical world—including sets, costumes, and lighting—for Nevermore. The production features choreography by Laura Krewski, music tracks and additional orchestrations by Matthew Skopyk, and sound design by Wade Staples.
