Yesterday marked Provo City Library Director Gene Nelson Junior’s retirement, and we would like to thank and congratulate Gene Nelson for the tireless care and service provided to our district’s students over the years.
Gene has served as an elementary, middle school, community college, and public librarian. He assisted in building the former Brigham Young University Library and the Provo City Library, served twice on the Caldecott Award committee, and spent a term on the Newbery Award committee. He’s worked in collaborating with the Provo City School District on a myriad of programs and projects, and took great care as a steward over student learning.
He leaves an impact on many lives across our community, and we are so grateful for his work. Thank you, Gene, and congratulations on a well-earned retirement.
