Policy 6607 Inclement Weather
Provo City School District fully expects our schools to be open and functioning normally throughout the winter. However, extreme/sudden weather conditions may result in a change in the normal operating routine, including start/end times, bus routes and school closures.
The Board of Education directs district administration to develop and implement procedures regarding transportation and school closures during extreme inclement weather. If there is a decision to delay or cancel school, that decision will be made by the Superintendent as early as possible on the day of bad weather. If severe weather conditions or other events force a school closure, delayed start, or early release, procedure 6607 will be followed.
Procedure 6607 shall include the ability to communicate information to parents, students and staff in various matters about changes to the normal daily routine. The District encourages parents to make attendance decisions for their children based on their specific ability to get to school safely. As inclement weather and traffic will affect the bus schedule, the District asks that families be patient and understanding. The safety of our students is our primary concern.
