Policy 6600 P2 Transportation – School Bus Emergency Exit Drill
During the first six weeks of each school year, the transportation department will perform a physical emergency exit drill:
- For all students at each elementary school
- For Bused students at each secondary school
The emergency entrance/exit service door will be used during the emergency exit drill. Practice drills will be performed in the bus loading zone of the school premises.
Elementary principals will schedule with the Transportation Route Coordinator at least one week prior to the scheduled drill. Secondary drills will be conducted by each route driver.
The Lead Coordinator of Transportation will develop an itemized checklist for drivers to use during emergency drills. Records of completed emergency exit drills will be retained in the transportation office for a period of two years.
