Each year, the Centennial Middle, Dixon Middle, Provo High, and Timpview High choirs join forces to bring a choral masterwork to life. The choirs will be performing Gabriel Faure’s “Requiem in D minor” this year. Composed in 1890, this seven-movement work for choir, orchestra, and organ is shortened setting of the Catholic mass for the dead. Its focus on rest and consolation reaches far beyond the setting it was originally written for and touches the hearts of all people, regardless of faith or creed. Faure once said, “My Requiem wasn’t written for anything – for pleasure, if I may call it that!”
The concert will be held on Tuesday, March 28, @ 7 pm in the Provo High Auditorium. Admission is free, and no ticket is required. Donations accepted.
