Recently, three administrators from different schools within Provo City School District presented at the annual Utah Systems Conference.
These administrators included Sean Edwards (Assistant Principal at Timpview High), Kyle Bates (Principal at Centennial Middle) and Jessica Jensen (former Behavior Support Specialist at Spring Creek and new assistant principal at Wasatch Elementary).
Their presentation, entitled “From Day 1 to Diploma: How Schools are Supporting At-Risk and Underserved Populations”, focused on how Timpview, Centennial and Spring Creek have worked together to improve academic outcomes for students, including those students who are at-risk or part of underserved populations. Through this presentation, their hope was to help other administrators learn about important Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) that apply to all schools and also to initiate an engaging discussion about how to support all students.
The Utah Systems Conference, which took place at the Utah Valley Convention Center, is a conference for both teachers and administrators that focuses on alignment, collaboration and equity within a tiered system of supports.
Congratulations to Sean Edwards, Kyle Bates and Jessica Jensen on a great presentation!
