PCSD Student and Educator Featured in the Daily Herald

This week, both a student and an educator from Provo City School District were featured in the Daily Herald as “Student of the Week” and “Educator of the Week”.

Student of the Week

Mathias Cruz, a third grader at Provo Peaks Elementary, was nominated as the Daily Herald’s “Student of the Week”.Mathias was nominated because of his dedication to his education. He is a very focused student who also strives to help other students be successful as well. Mathias said, “The best thing about school is being with my friends, and making new friends.”

Educator of the Week

Cary Nichols, a second grade teaching intern at Franklin Elementary, was nominated for the Daily Herald’s “Educator of the Week. Cary was nominated due to her visible passion for teaching and her dedication to her students. Nichols is currently in her fifth month of teaching through the internship and she said that the greatest lesson she has learned so far is to go easy on yourself.
