megan hoffman art contestDixon Middle school student, Megan Hoffman, is a true creative.

Her art piece titled, “Heal the World” received top honors in the district-wide art contest. Her artwork features three figures of diverse backgrounds working together to bandage and heal the earth from the effects of COVID-19.

Her teacher Chelsea Cellar states, “When I issued the challenge of our district art contest, I was hopeful that Megan would produce something for it. It was a really short turn-around time between when we got the information and the deadline of the contest,  but Megan didn’t disappoint, obviously. I was really impressed with that level of dedication, and I think that’s illuminating as to how thoughtful Megan is with her art.”

Cellar continues, “Megan always puts in the time to make her artwork stunning, and in 3D Art, I watched her become a successful creative problem solver.”

“This year, I challenged my 3D art students to collectively fold 1,000 paper cranes, with the goal of sending them to the Peace Memorial in Hiroshima, Japan.  After I issued the challenge, Megan came into school with over 80 cranes!  It’s still the most any student has made individually, and I’m confident that we’ll reach our goal before the end of the school year.”

We are thankful to our students like Megan that are great, creative problem-solvers. Their perspectives and insights bring radiate throughout our schools. Congratulations Megan! We look forward to seeing more of your creative work!
