2021 Provo City School District Retirees

As another school year begins to wind down, the Provo City School District will say goodbye to 22 staff members who will be retiring. Last week, the district hosted a retirement celebration to honor the retirees where each was recognized for their many gifts and talents they have shared with students and employees.

Again, to our retirees, we wish you a retirement filled with time to enjoy your family, friends and all the activities you have saved for this special time. Thank you for your service, you will be missed.

Provo City School District retirees for this year include:

Steven Andersen

Social Worker for Student Services

Michael Steve Andersen was hired by Provo School District in 1998. Steve has served, taught, mentored and influenced administration, teachers, coworkers, students and families in our district for 23 years. Regular and Special Education personnel have relied heavily on Steve to help students succeed in school and in their personal lives. Steve has used his wisdom, skills and experience to meet with Special Education students individually to teach students to cope with the challenges and barriers in their life. For many years Steve has been looked up to as the expert in our school district for Clinical Interventions and Behavior Management.

We will miss Steve greatly and wish him a wonderful retirement.

Sandra Barnes

1^st Grade Teacher for Lakeview Elementary

Sandi Barnes has been an integral part of Lakeview Elementary School since it opened. Prior to Lakeview, Sandi taught for many years at Grandview Elementary School. For several years now she has been a partner teacher in the Dual Language 1st grade program. Sandi is a peacemaker and an optimist. She is always willing to share anything she has, and is the first to volunteer to help or do whatever is needed if you need a sub or ideas for one thing or another. And she has such cute ideas to share! Her classroom is always decorated so cute for her current theme and she goes all out making everything look so great! We will miss having Sandi at Lakeview. We will miss her ability to stay calm no matter what the situation and her knowledge, wisdom, and experience will be truly missed.

Delaina Bonnett

Transportation Coordinator

Delaina Bonnett has served as the Transportation Routing Coordinator for the past 17 years. She has been with Provo City School District for a total of 29 years, previously serving as a route driver for 8 years and as a bus attendant for 4 years. Delaina’s unwavering efforts created a remarkable sense of family and friendship among the transportation staff. Transporting students is not a responsibility that can be put off until tomorrow or following days to be caught up on. Throughout the years she has acted on the behalf of a counselor, mother, therapist and medical advisor with the purpose of keeping the drivers and attendants in buses providing the continual flow of transporting students to meet their educational needs. Delaina will be greatly missed and always remembered by those who were blessed to work with and beside her.

Carol Gaylord

Math Teacher at Dixon Middle

Carol Gaylord joined Dixon Middle School when Farrer Middle School was closed and has been an integral part of the success of Dixon. She has taught math at Dixon since joining the team and has also worked as a Teacher Leader, Student Body Advisor, Summer Travel Program Coordinator, PD coordinator, and Department Chair. Prior to joining Dixon she also taught Special Education, was a SPED facilitator, and also taught elementary school. Carol loves her school, her colleagues, and her students. She constantly strives to improve and works to implement new strategies and techniques. She is a model educator and is fully invested in the success of her students and her colleagues. We wish her the best as she pauses her career with her retirement and as she leaves our building this year, she will be greatly missed.

Andria Halbert

Special Education Teacher from Franklin Elementary

Andria has been a special education teacher for 12 years, with the past 11 being at Franklin. Andria has had a significant impact on the lives and educations of hundreds of students and has been a mentor and friend to countless educators. Andria genuinely cares for her students and is always advocating on their behalf. She has worked tirelessly to build lifelong learning skills for all students. She does this in order to provide every student with the knowledge, skills, and disposition that will serve them along their learning journey. We are so grateful for the impact and influence that Andria has had on everyone has worked with her. We are better people and educators because of our time with her and hope she knows that she will always have a home at Franklin Elementary.

Steven Hartline

Program Supervisor at Central Utah Enterprises

Steve Hartline began working for Central Utah Enterprises in December 1990. He began his career as a job coach, helping the individuals who ran the lawn care part of the program. He later became Program manager over the laundry, working with many businesses throughout Utah County. He has spent the last few years as a member of the Central Utah Enterprises management team and board. He is loved and respected by many of the individuals, as well as their family and friends. He has enjoyed his time at Central Utah Enterprises and will always look back to the memories that he has made.

Colleen Hawkins

Physical Education Teacher at Provo High

Colleen Hawkins has been teaching Physical Education for 34 years, the last 26 at Provo High. And, for the last 14 years, outside of her time at Provo High, she has been teaching BYU Independent Study. Colleen has a great love for athletics. Whether it’s archery or rock climbing, she loves being able to introduce students to sports activities of all kinds and help them hone their skills. Colleen has also spent much of her career as a coach, with many of her teams often being region champs who went on to compete in state playoffs. She has coached volleyball, basketball, track and field, and softball. Colleen was an assistant athletic director for ten years, and she also chaired the PHS PE department for 18 years. Leadership in athletics is certainly Colleen’s forte.

Sherri Hill

Math Teacher at Dixon Middle

Sherri Hill began her career at Dixon 30 years ago as an intern. At the close of her intern year she was hired on full time and has continued to have a positive impact on the lives of the Dixon community and the students throughout her career. She is a life-long learner, has embraced the positive changes in education throughout her career and is not only supportive of her students, but also of her teacher colleagues and all employees at Dixon. She makes sure all birthdays and special events are recognized and celebrated. She is an example of positive change and her positive attitude will be missed at Dixon as she transitions into her next teaching assignment with kids and grandkids. We wish her the best in her future endeavors.

Deirdre Larkin

Special Education Teacher at Provo High

Deirdre Larkin is a Special Education teacher at Provo High School, though her time in Provo City School District began in 1995, when she moved to the U.S. from Ireland. Deirdre began working as a para-educator at the elementary level, but once she had her degree, she began teaching at Timpview, then Dixon, and now Provo High the last 4 years. Her connection to Provo High feels much longer, however, since all 5 of her children attended and graduated from Provo High. Deirdre has taught math and English, and she currently teaches many support classes at Provo High. She has accomplished what she set out to do when she decided to be a teacher, which was to make a difference in the lives of her students. Deirdre truly values her students and has a genuine desire to help them be successful.

Kim McIntire

English Teacher at Timpview High

During a phenomenal career that expanded three decades, Kim influenced thousands of students at the middle school and high school levels throughout the city of Provo. His influence at Dixon Middle, Centennial Middle, and Timpview High School will be felt for years to come. He was instrumental in helping students appreciate the themes, narratives, and stories found in the best books. Kim made phenomenal contributions to the field of language arts, but his true passion was always on full display in the dance rooms of our secondary schools. His love of dance transformed students’ confidence and connection to the school in positive and transformative ways. Many of Kim’s students found their academic “groove” through their love of dance. Kim embodies the qualities and characteristics of a professional educator. As Kim “struts” into retirement, we’re grateful for the energy he gave our district.

Pamela Moe

Instructional Assistant at Franklin Elementary

Pam Moe has worked at Franklin Elementary for 27 years. During her 27 years she has served as an instructional assistant, technology specialist in the school and on the district level, and as the keyboarding instructor for the school. Pam cares about each and every student in the school. She knows their names and their needs. She has high expectations for each and is passionate about helping the students become their best self. Pam has motivated many students and teachers. She is always willing to help anyone, student or teacher. Pam has a magnetic personality. People flock to her because of her listening ear and her fun sense of humor. She is a good friend and colleague. We wish her the best on this new adventure in her life.

Leann Moody

English Teacher at Dixon Middle

Though Leann Moody has taught English at Dixon for 25 years, she will be most remembered as an award winning yearbook advisor, and for the amazing Author Visits she coordinated at Dixon. Leann loves her students and her books but even more, she loves sharing her books with her students and enlightening their minds and worlds with the literature she loves so much. Prior to coming to Dixon, she worked for 15 years as a writer and graphic designer for the Provo Herald. Her love of graphic design and writing is evident in the yearbooks she produced and in the student newspaper she supervised. Leann will be missed. We wish her the best in this next phase and we look forward to the family publications about her trips to visit her family and her adopted family at the House of Mouse.

Philip Murphy

Social Studies Teacher at Provo High

Phil Murphy has been a Social Studies Teacher for 38 years, the last 33 spent teaching at Provo High. For Phil, teaching has not felt like work. He enjoys teaching and has strived to make learning just as enjoyable for the students. Phil has made active contributions to the school community throughout his career, coaching debate and advising clubs of all sorts: a comic book club, a culture club, a teenage Republican club, Speech (the “Toastmasters”), Key Club, Volunteers in Action, Social Studies Student Advisory Club, and Young Americans for Freedom. The latter included lining the Provo High grounds with flags each year in remembrance of 9/11, which was always a beautiful sight to see. Phil has found great enjoyment in helping students connect with their community and be involved in service.

Sheila Nielson

Speech-Language Pathologist at Sunrise Preschool

Sheila Nielson is a one-of-a kind Speech-Language Pathologist. Starting in 1992. She has worked for Provo City School District in the Preschool and Early Intervention programs. Sheila has helped implement many progressive teaching and therapy methods. She is a great clinician, mentor, collaborator, and friend. Sheila has good instincts and always makes time to listen. She is always willing to help others figure things out. Sheila has been a vital part of so many lives- children, parents, families, teachers, SLPs, and so on. During good times and not so good times, Sheila has shown up and done the job with 1000 percent effort. Sheila really has made a huge difference in Provo City School District and she will be greatly missed.

Jode Porter

District Truancy Intervention for Student Services

Jode Porter has worked for Provo City School District for 17 years in the district truancy program. Her dedicated service has included working with students of all ages, but she has worked most closely with secondary age students. She has had many years of experience working and volunteering with adolescents and has helped families in diverse situations to overcome obstacles that hinder attendance at school. She has also visited many families in their homes to foster a working relationship between the district and families. Jode has set a high standard of excellence and dedication in her job, always looking for ways to increase student success. Her caring is evident in everything she does. Jode will be greatly missed by all of us who have enjoyed working with her and we wish her a wonderful retirement.

Suzette Robins

Director of Central Utah Enterprises

Suzette Robins began working for Central Utah Enterprises in August 1990. She started out as a Program Manager and later became the Trainee Services Coordinator. She then became Co-Director, and later Director. The best part of her job is working with the individuals that they serve. Over the past 30 years, she has had the opportunity to work with many amazing coworkers as well as many family members, residential providers, support coordinators, and others who serve these individuals. Suzette is looking forward to spending more time with her 3 children and 10 grandchildren. She loves to travel and is always on the lookout for cemeteries, ghost towns, ruins, and loves to visit national and state parks. She has loved her time with Central Utah Enterprises and will always look back on the good memories that she has made.

Belinda Robinson

School Nutrition Supervisor at Centennial Middle

Serving Provo’s children and community as a part of the PCSD Child Nutrition team for the past 29 years, Belinda has proven herself to be a valuable and dependable employee! Beginning her tenure as a Sub Cook, Belinda served as Nutrition Manager for four years at the elementary level before becoming the Nutrition Manager for Centennial Middle School in 2009. Belinda also showed her support and commitment to the employees of PCSD serving in the capacity of President and as a representative of Child Nutrition for both the PESP Provo Employees Support Professionals and the PSFSA, Provo School Food Service Association for the past eight years. We will be forever thankful for her many years of dedication to the Child Nutrition Program and the thousands of children she served with loving hands and heart!

Todd Smith

Social Studies Teacher at Provo High

Todd Smith has been a Social Studies Teacher at Provo High for 33 years. Many of those years were spent serving as the Student Government Advisor. Todd oversees the Student Leadership Academy and AP programs at Provo High as well. He loves seeing the students hone their leadership skills, grow their knowledge, and find academic success. Todd loves being involved with the students at every level. He has always supervised dances and sports events, and has always been an active participant in the Knowledge Bowl and school assemblies. Todd has done this not only because he has incredible school spirit and is a true Bulldog through and through, but also because he values the students and knows that the connections made with them are key to learning.

Michael Smoot

CTE Teacher at Centennial Middle

Mike has two degrees – one in Automation Robotics and one in Electrical Engineering. Mike worked in industry for 20 years before becoming an educator. Mike began teaching at Joe P. Jensen Middle school for 2 years. He moved to Jordan Applied Technology Center for 12 years. While at JATC he started the Engineering Program for Jordan School District. Mike then taught at a charter school for one year. He has been with Centennial Middle School for the last 5 years. He has taught the intro to CTE and Robotics classes. He has also been an advisor for the school TSA Club. Mike has also been the state TSA State Advisor for the past 16 years.In retirement Mike and his wife will be traveling the country in their brand new 5th wheel trailer and enjoying time together.

Karen Soerensen

Social Studies Teacher at Centennial Middle

Karen began her teaching career in 1983 at Farrer Junior High School. In 1996, Centennial Middle School opened and she decided to be a part of creating a new faculty at the school, teaching 8th Grade U.S. History. Karen has truly become the heartbeat behind Centennial the last 25 years. She served as teacher leader, advisor to National Junior Honor Society and Student Council, Editor of the school’s newspaper and organized the annual Talent Show. Karen also assisted with mentoring numerous student teachers and faculty members. Recently she has been serving as the Provo Education Association Representative and the school’s testing coordinator. She is an example, leader, and friend to all those who have the privilege to know her. Working behind the scenes to ensure her students and colleagues succeed in their goals, Karen has been one of Centennials quiet heroes.

Diane Toronto

Clinical Faculty Associate for District Office/BYU

Diane Toronto has worked for Provo City School District in many capacities throughout her influential career. She has helped aspiring teachers, new teachers and has been a mentor to many colleagues. She has taught, supported, and cared for many students who have learned from her kindness and expertise as a teacher. Everyone who knows Diane feels lucky to do so and our lives would not be as rich without her friendship. Thank you for being there for students, parents and colleagues. You deserve to be celebrated and will be missed.

Gayle Waycasy

District Bus Driver

Gayle Waycasy has been transporting students with Provo City School District for 14 years. For the past 2 years, she has served our special needs students of Eastbay Post High, Provo High, Provo Peaks and Sunrise Pre-School. Gayle has always loved her time with the students. Throughout the years she would create week long quiz games for them during their ride with prizes at the end. With her awesome creativity she always was one of the best costumed drivers at Halloween. During her down time between routes she could always be found in the breakroom telling stories, riddles and playing practical jokes. There just won’t be the same vibe in the breakroom without her. Thanks to her love of crafts and creativity she will definitely be busy but relaxed during her retirement.

Mientras otro año escolar comienza a terminar, el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo se despedirá de 22 miembros de su personal que se retirarán. La semana pasada, el distrito organizó una celebración de retiro para honrar a los retirados donde cada uno fue reconocido por sus muchos dones y talentos que compartieron con los estudiantes y empleados.

De nuevo, a nuestros jubilados, les deseamos un retiro lleno de tiempo para disfrutar de su familia, amigos y todas las actividades que han guardado para este momento especial. Gracias por su servicio, los extrañaremos.

Steven Andersen

Sandra Barnes

Profesora de 1er grado para Lakeview Elementary

Sandi Barnes ha sido una parte integral de Lakeview Elementary School desde que se abrió. Antes de Lakeview, Sandi enseñó por muchos años en Grandview Elementary School. Por varios años ella ha sido maestra asociada en el programa de Lenguaje Dual de 1er grado. Sandi es una persona conciliadora y optimista. Siempre está dispuesta a compartir todo lo que tiene, y es la primera en ofrecerse para ayudar o hacer lo que sea necesario, si se necesita un substituto o unas ideas para cualquier cosa, y tiene unas ideas muy bonitas para compartir. ¡Su clase siempre está decorada tan bonita para su tema actual y ella hace todo lo posible para que todo se vea bien! Vamos a extrañar tener a Sandi en Lakeview. Extrañaremos su habilidad de mantener la calma sin importar la situación y su conocimiento, sabiduría y experiencia serán realmente extrañados.

Delaina Bonnett

Coordinadora de transporte

Delaina Bonnett ha servido como Coordinadora de Rutas de Transporte por los últimos 17 años. Ella ha trabajado con el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo por un total de 29 años, y anteriormente sirvió como conductora de ruta por 8 años y como asistente de autobús por 4 años. Los esfuerzos inquebrantables de Delaina crearon un notable sentido de familia y amistad entre el personal de transporte. El transporte de los alumnos no es una responsabilidad que se pueda dejar para mañana o los días siguientes, para ponerse al día. Durante todos estos años ha actuado como consejera, madre, terapeuta y asesora médica con el propósito de mantener a los conductores y asistentes en los autobuses, proveyendo el constante transporte de estudiantes para satisfacer sus necesidades educativas. Delaina será muy extrañada y siempre será recordada por aquellos que tuvieron la bendición de trabajar con ella y a su lado.

Carol Gaylord

Maestra de Matemáticas para Dixon Middle

Carol Gaylord llegó a Dixon Middle School cuando se cerró Farrer Middle School y ha sido una parte integral del éxito de Dixon. Ha enseñado matemáticas en Dixon desde que se unió al equipo y también ha trabajado como líder de profesores, consejera de estudiantes, coordinadora del programa de viajes de verano, coordinadora de PD y directora de departamento. Antes de trabajar en Dixon, también enseñó Educación Especial, fue facilitadora de SPED y también enseñó en la escuela primaria. Carol ama su escuela, sus compañeros y sus estudiantes. Ella se esfuerza siempre para mejorar y trabaja para poner en práctica nuevas estrategias y técnicas. Es un ejemplo como educadora y está totalmente comprometida con el éxito de sus alumnos y de sus compañeros. Le deseamos lo mejor al poner en pausa su carrera con su retiro y al dejar nuestro distrito este año, la extrañaremos mucho.

Andria Halbert

Maestra de Educación Especial para Franklin Elementary

Andria ha sido maestra de educación especial por 12 años, con los últimos 11 en Franklin. Andria ha tenido un impacto significante en las vidas y educación de cientos de estudiantes y ha sido mentora y amiga de innumerables educadores. Andria se preocupa sinceramente por sus alumnos y siempre lucha por ellos. Ha trabajado incansablemente para desarrollar habilidades de aprendizaje permanente para todos los estudiantes. Lo hace con la intención de darle a cada estudiante el conocimiento, las habilidades y la disposición que les servirá a lo largo de su carrera académica. Steve Hartline

Supervisor de programas en Central Utah Enterprises

Steve Hartline empezó a trabajar para Central Utah Enterprises en diciembre de 1990. Colleen Hawkins

Maestra de Educación Física para Provo High

Colleen Hawkins ha enseñado Educación Física por 34 años, de los cuales los últimos 26 han sido en Provo High. Durante los últimos 14 años, fuera de su tiempo en Provo High, ha estado enseñando en BYU Independent Study. Colleen tiene un gran amor por el atletismo. Sherri Hill

Maestra de Matemáticas para Dixon Middle

Sherri Hill comenzó su carrera en Dixon hace 30 años como interna. Al final de su año de interna fue contratada a tiempo completo y ha continuado teniendo un impacto positivo en las vidas de la comunidad de Dixon y los estudiantes a lo largo de su carrera. Ella es una estudiante para toda la vida, ha apoyado los cambios positivos en la educación a lo largo de su carrera y no sólo apoya a sus estudiantes, sino también a sus compañeros maestros y a todos los empleados de Dixon. Deidre Larkin

Maestra de Educación Especial para Provo High

Deirdre Larkin es profesora de Educación Especial en Provo High School, pero su tiempo en el distrito escolar de la ciudad de Provo comenzó en 1995, cuando se movió a los Estados Unidos desde Irlanda. Deirdre comenzó a trabajar como para-educadora en el nivel primario, pero en cuanto obtuvo su título, comenzó a enseñar en Timpview, luego en Dixon, y ahora en Provo High los últimos 4 años. Su conexión con Provo High se siente mucho más larga, sin embargo, ya que todos sus 5 hijos asistieron y se graduaron de Provo High. Kim McIntire

Maestra de Literatura para Timpview High

Su influencia en Dixon Middle, Centennial Middle y Timpview High School se sentirá por muchos años. Fue fundamental para ayudar a los estudiantes a apreciar los temas, las narrativas y las historias que se encuentran en los mejores libros. Kim hizo contribuciones fenomenales en el campo de las artes del lenguaje, pero su verdadera pasión siempre estuvo a flor de piel en las clases de baile de nuestras escuelas secundarias. Su amor por el baile transformó la confianza de los alumnos y su conexión con la escuela de forma positiva y transformadora. Pamela Moe

Asistente de Instrucción para Franklin Elementary

Pam Moe ha trabajado en Franklin Elementary por 27 años. Durante sus 27 años ha servido como asistente de instrucción, especialista en tecnología en la escuela y a nivel del distrito, y como instructora de teclado para la escuela. Pam cuida de todos y cada uno de los estudiantes de la escuela. Conoce sus nombres y sus necesidades. Ella tiene altas expectativas para cada uno y le apasiona ayudar a los estudiantes a convertirse en su mejor versión. Pam ha motivado a muchos estudiantes y profesores. Ella siempre está dispuesta a ayudar a cualquier persona, estudiante o profesor. Pam tiene una personalidad magnética. La gente se acerca a ella por su capacidad de escuchar y su divertido sentido de humor. Es una buena amiga y compañera. Le deseamos lo mejor en esta nueva aventura de su vida.

Leann Moody

Maestra de Literatura para Dixon Middle

Aunque Leann Moody ha sido profesora de literatura en Dixon durante 25 años, será recordada sobre todo como consejera de libros anuales premiada y por las increíbles Visitas de Autor que coordinó en Dixon. Leann ama a sus estudiantes y sus libros, pero aún más, le encanta compartir sus libros con sus estudiantes y iluminar sus mentes y mundos con la literatura que tanto ama. Antes de venir a Dixon, trabajó por 15 años como escritora y diseñadora gráfica para el Provo Herald. Su amor por el diseño gráfico y la escritura es evidente en los libros anuales que produjo y en el periódico estudiantil que supervisó. Extrañaremos a Leann. Philip Murphy

Profesor de Estudios Sociales para Provo High

Phil Murphy ha sido profesor de estudios sociales por 38 años, los últimos 33 los ha pasado enseñando en Provo High. Para Phil, la enseñanza no se ha sentido como un trabajo. Disfruta enseñando y se ha esforzado para que el aprendizaje sea agradable para los estudiantes. Phil ha contribuido activamente a la comunidad escolar a lo largo de su carrera, entrenando debates y asesorando a clubs de todo tipo: un club de cómics, un club de cultura, un club de adolescentes republicanos, Speech (los “Toastmasters”), Key Club, Voluntarios en Acción, Club Asesor de Estudiantes de Estudios Sociales y Jóvenes Americanos por la Libertad. Este último incluyó el forrado de los terrenos del Provo High con banderas cada año en recuerdo del 11 de septiembre, lo que siempre fue un hermoso espectáculo de ver. Phil ha encontrado un gran placer en ayudar a los estudiantes a conectarse con su comunidad y participar en el servicio.

Sheila Nielson

Patólogo del Discurso-Lenguaje en Sunrise Preschool

Sheila Nielson es una patóloga del discurso y del lenguaje única en su género. Comenzó en 1992. Ha trabajado para el distrito escolar de la ciudad de Provo en los programas de preescolar y de intervención temprana. Sheila ha ayudado a implementar muchos métodos progresivos de enseñanza y terapia. Ella es una gran clínica, mentora, colaboradora y amiga. Sheila tiene buenos instintos y siempre tiene tiempo para escuchar. Siempre está dispuesta a ayudar a los demás a entender las cosas. Sheila ha sido una parte vital de muchas vidas: niños, padres, familias, profesores, SLP, etc. En los momentos buenos y en los no tan buenos, Sheila ha aparecido y ha hecho el trabajo con un 1000% de su esfuerzo. Sheila realmente ha hecho una gran diferencia en el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo y la extrañaremos mucho.

Jode Porter

Intervención del distrito en el absentismo escolar para los servicios estudiantiles

Jode Porter ha trabajado para el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo por 17 años en el programa de absentismo escolar del distrito. Su servicio dedicado ha incluido el trabajo con estudiantes de todas las edades, pero ha trabajado más con estudiantes de edad secundaria. Ella ha tenido muchos años de experiencia trabajando y siendo voluntaria con adolescentes y ha ayudado a familias en diversas situaciones a superar los obstáculos que impiden la asistencia a la escuela. También ha visitado a muchas familias en sus casas para cultivar una buena relación entre el distrito y las familias. Jode ha establecido un alto nivel de excelencia y dedicación en su trabajo, buscando siempre formas de aumentar el éxito de los estudiantes. Su preocupación es evidente en todo lo que hace. Todos los que hemos disfrutado trabajando con ella extrañaremos mucho a Jode y le deseamos un maravilloso retiro.

Suzette Robins

Directora de Central Utah Enterprises

Suzette Robins comenzó a trabajar en Central Utah Enterprises en agosto de 1990. Comenzó como gerente de programas y más tarde se convirtió en coordinadora de servicios de formación. Luego pasó a ser codirectora y más tarde directora. La mejor parte de su trabajo es trabajar con las personas que sirven. Durante los últimos 30 años, ha tenido la oportunidad de trabajar con muchos compañeros de trabajo increíbles, así como con muchos miembros de la familia, proveedores residenciales, coordinadores de apoyo y otras personas que sirven a estas personas. Suzette está deseando pasar más tiempo con sus 3 hijos y 10 nietos. Le encanta viajar y siempre está en busca de cementerios, pueblos con fantasmas, ruinas, y le encanta visitar los parques nacionales y estatales. Ella ha amado su tiempo con Central Utah Enterprises y siempre mirará hacia atrás en los buenos recuerdos que ha hecho.

Belinda Robinson

Supervisora de Nutrición Escolar para Centennial Middle

Sirviendo a los niños y a la comunidad de Provo como parte del equipo de Nutrición Infantil del PCSD durante los últimos 29 años, Belinda ha sido una empleada valiosa y confiable. Comenzando su trabajo como Sub Cocinera, Belinda sirvió como Gerente de Nutrición por cuatro años en el nivel primario antes de convertirse en la Gerente de Nutrición para Centennial Middle School en 2009. Belinda también mostró su apoyo y compromiso a los empleados de PCSD sirviendo en la capacidad de Presidenta y como representante de Nutrición Infantil para los Profesionales de Apoyo a los Empleados de PESP Provo y la PSFSA, Asociación de Servicios de Alimentación Escolar de Provo durante los últimos ocho años. Estaremos siempre agradecidos por sus muchos años de dedicación al Programa de Nutrición Infantil y a los miles de niños a los que sirvió con manos y corazón amorosos.

Todd Smith

Profesor de Estudios Sociales para Provo High

Todd Smith ha sido profesor de estudios sociales en Provo High por 33 años. Muchos de esos años los pasó sirviendo como Consejero del Gobierno Estudiantil. Todd supervisa la Academia de Liderazgo Estudiantil y los programas AP en Provo High también. Le encanta ver a los estudiantes afinar sus habilidades de liderazgo, aumentar sus conocimientos y encontrar el éxito académico. Todd ama la participación con los estudiantes en todos los niveles. Siempre ha supervisado bailes y eventos deportivos, y siempre ha sido un participante activo en el Knowledge Bowl y en las asambleas escolares. Todd ha hecho esto no sólo porque tiene un increíble espíritu escolar y es un verdadero Bulldog hasta la médula, sino también porque valora a los estudiantes y sabe que las conexiones hechas con ellos son clave para el aprendizaje.

Michael Smoot

Maestro de CTE para Centennial Middle

Mike tiene dos licenciaturas: una en Robótica Automática y otra en Ingeniería Eléctrica. Mike trabajó en la industria por 20 años antes de ser educador. Mike comenzó a enseñar en la escuela Joe P. Jensen Middle School por 2 años. Se pasó al Jordan Applied Technology Center por 12 años. Mientras que en JATC comenzó el Programa de Ingeniería para el Distrito Escolar de jordan. Mike luego enseñó en una escuela charter por un año. Ha estado con Centennial Middle School por los últimos 5 años. Ha enseñado la introducción a las clases de CTE y Robótica. También ha sido asesor del Club TSA de la escuela. Mike también ha sido el consejero estatal de la TSA durante los últimos 16 años. Cuando se retire, Mike y su esposa viajarán por el país en su nuevo tráiler de cinco ruedas y disfrutarán del tiempo juntos.

Karen Soerensen

Profesor de Estudios Sociales para Centennial Middle

Karen comenzó su carrera como profesora en 1983 en Farrer Junior High School. En 1996, Centennial Middle School abrió y ella decidió ser parte de la creación de una nueva facultad en la escuela, enseñando Historia de los Estados Unidos de Octavo Grado. Karen ha sido el corazón de Centennial en los últimos 25 años. Ella sirvió como líder de los maestros, asesor de la Sociedad Nacional de Honor Junior y el Consejo Estudiantil, editor del periódico de la escuela y organizó el Show de Talentos anual. Karen también ayudó con la tutoría de numerosos estudiantes de magisterio y miembros de la facultad. Recientemente ha estado sirviendo como representante de la Asociación de Educación de Provo y como coordinadora de las pruebas de la escuela. Ella es un ejemplo, líder y amiga de todos los que tienen el privilegio de conocerla. Trabajando detrás de las escenas para asegurar que sus estudiantes y colegas tengan éxito en sus metas, Karen ha sido uno de los héroes silenciosos de Centennials.

Diane Toronto

Diane Toronto ha trabajado para el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo en muchas capacidades durante su carrera influyente. Ha ayudado a los aspirantes a educadores, a los nuevos profesores y ha sido mentora de muchos de sus colegas. Ha enseñado, apoyado y cuidado a muchos estudiantes que han aprendido de su amabilidad y experiencia como maestra. Todos los que conocen a Diane se sienten afortunados de hacerlo y nuestras vidas no serían tan ricas sin su amistad. Gracias por estar ahí para los estudiantes, los padres y los colegas. Te mereces un gran reconocimiento y te extrañaremos.

Gayle Waycasy

Gayle Waycasy ha estado transportando estudiantes para el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo por 14 años. Durante los últimos 2 años, ella ha servido a nuestros estudiantes con necesidades especiales de Eastbay Post High, Provo High, Provo Peaks y Sunrise Pre-School. Gayle siempre ha amado su tiempo con los estudiantes. En estos años ella creaba juegos de preguntas de una semana para ellos durante su viaje con premios al final. Con su creatividad impresionante ella siempre fue una de las mejores conductoras disfrazadas en Halloween. Durante su tiempo libre entre las rutas siempre la podíamos encontrar en la sala de descanso contando historias, adivinanzas y gastando bromas. No habrá el mismo ambiente en la sala de descanso sin ella. Gracias a su amor por las artesanías y la creatividad, definitivamente estará ocupada pero relajada durante su retiro.
