Provo City School District is happy to announce two new Assistant Superintendents. Jarod Sites has been named as the Assistant Superintendent over Elementary Schools and Darrell Jensen has been named as the new Assistant Superintendent over Secondary Education. Jarod replaces Alex Judd, who has accepted a position in Wasatch County School District. Darrell replaces Todd McKee, who was recently named as Superintendent of Cache County School District. Each person will officially begin their new position on July 1.
Jarod Sites has worked in the Provo City School District since 1997. During that time he has worked in several different schools, Student Services, and the Human Resource Office at the District Office. He has worked with hundreds of educators, thousands of students, amazing parents, mentors, and other community members. Learning valuable lessons from each experience. Jarod considers it a privilege to work in Provo, wherever he has been assigned to serve. In 2017, Jarod was recognized as the Utah Principal of the Year for his work with the Dixon Community. Having worked as an Assistant Principal at Centennial Middle School, and as a Principal at Spring Creek Elementary, Principal at Dixon Middle School, and most recently as Principal at Provo High School, Jarod has a rich history of K-12 experiences and looks forward to continuing this work to bring about great things in the community. Jarod is married to his beautiful wife Kerri, and is the father of 3 sons. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors, cooking, reading, and never passes up an opportunity to laugh and spend time in a good restaurant.
It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the newly appointed Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education in the Provo City School District. I am honored to have been chosen to work alongside Superintendent Dau and the other members of the District Leadership Team.
During my twenty-seven-year career as an educator, I have served students as both a teacher and an administrator. I just completed my seventh year as the Principal of Corner Canyon High School. I had the opportunity to be the Principal at Albion Middle School for the two years prior to my appointment at Corner Canyon. I spent eleven years as a high school assistant principal at Hillcrest High, Brighton High, and Jordan High which provided me with a variety of opportunities to grow as an administrator as I worked with different communities and advocated for their unique needs within the Canyons School District. I began my career in Nebo School District where I worked in the classroom for eight years.
I received my Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership in 2004 from Brigham Young University. My wife, Amie, and I live in Payson, Utah where we have raised five children. It is my goal to continue advocating for students, supporting teachers, and building relationships with all stakeholders in the Provo City School District. I am grateful for this opportunity, and I look forward to working with all members of our community to create the best educational opportunities for all students.
