Just before the end of the school year, incoming Superintendent Wendy Dau visited several of our schools, where students, teachers, faculty, and parents had a chance to ask questions and learn more about her. We recorded these conversations and will share them for the next few months in the hopes you’ll get to know Wendy on a more personal level.
In this installment, Wendy visited with a teacher representative, Lindsay Baccus. Lindsay asked Wendy about her vision for teacher pay. Wendy talked about her experience increasing teacher pay in her previous district. The question opened a dialogue about a multi-pronged effort concentrating on teacher retention; she discusses plans to build a culture where teachers are valued by and through district and community support and surveying teachers on their current wants and needs regarding pay, benefits, and more.
