Provo City School District is happy to announce Kami Alvarez as the new principal for Provo High School moving from principal of Provost Elementary where she has served since 2020.
Kami brings more than twenty-one years of experience in education across a varied spectrum, including time as a secondary English teacher, middle school assistant principal, high school assistant principal, professional learning coordinator, district school improvement coordinator, and her most recent posting as principal. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English Teaching with an ESL specialization from BYU and an advanced graduate degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. She is a current doctorate student in Educational Leadership and Foundations at BYU.
Kami Alvarez’s implementation of multi-tiered support systems to aid multilingual students, installation of Professional Learning Communities and Positive Behavior and Support Systems, and delivery of tech-based and STEAM learning opportunities has brought Provo City School District considerable growth during her role as a principal already.
Kami brings infectious enthusiasm and warmth to the district. With a heart and mind dedicated to bettering education, she creates an impact on students, teachers, and staff everywhere she goes. We are excited to have her join the staff at Provo High.
