Recently, Community Health Connect teamed up with the Dental Assistant students at Mountainland Technical College to provide dental care to the kids at Amelia Earhart Elementary.
Once every six months, those who attend a Title 1 school in Utah County have the opportunity to receive fluoride varnish treatments through a program called, “Utah Oral Health Coalition”. This coalition is composed of non-profit organizations that advocate the need for oral health for everyone.
When the time comes, students who have permission from their parents, file into the lunchroom to meet with the friendly Dental Assistant volunteers. After explaining the process, the volunteers quickly apply a layer of fluoride to the students’ teeth to keep them strong and prevent tooth decay.
If the Dental Assistants identify a student needing more dental work, Community Health Connect reaches out to the parents to discuss how they can help provide their child with the best care by setting them up with a volunteer dentist in the area.
We are so grateful for this great service and the dental care our students receive.
