Erica Persson, a Provo CAPS instructor, was awarded a Mini-Grant by the PCSD Foundation to purchase EKG Machines for her students. In the medical strand, students are getting hands-on practice with EKG machines, an essential tool for their field. Using these machines, students can earn certifications that open doors to high-paying jobs, with many earning about $25 an hour right after high school.
Through this program, students get a meaningful head start on their futures. Having hands-on experience and job-enabling licenses gives our students a leg up on their peers, in addition to giving them a real look at what a future in the medical field can look like.
The teachers and specialists in Provo City School District are key to making these opportunities happen. They are dedicated to creating a strong learning environment for our students. The Provo City School District Foundation supports its efforts by awarding Mini-Grants each year to fund innovative projects.
Congratulations to this year’s Mini-Grant winners, and thank you for your hard work in creating valuable learning experiences for our students!
