Lisa Garner, a dedicated first-grade teacher, was recently awarded a Foundation Mini-Grant to purchase nonfiction books for her classroom. The grant allows her to provide a range of books for students at different reading levels, ensuring that every student can engage with material suited to their abilities.
The collection includes books across three reading levels, giving students a strong foundation and the chance to challenge themselves as they grow. This variety helps foster a love of reading while allowing each child to progress at their own pace.
The students especially enjoy the non-fiction material, which teaches them about the world around them. Whether exploring animals, plants, or outer space, the books spark curiosity and encourage exploration. For many students, having access to these resources fosters an early interest in science and discovery, setting the stage for a lifelong love of learning.
The new books are a valuable resource in Lisa Garner’s classroom. They provide engaging, educational content that helps students develop reading skills and a deeper understanding of the world.
