“I believe Mr. Rowley should be recognized for all the kind things he has done for me,” shared Shoreline Middle student Stile Crandall. “I nominated Mr. Rowley because he’s helped me in some of the toughest times I’ve had.”
Stile is currently enrolled at Shoreline Middle School, but he was once a third-grade student at Lakeview Elementary, where Rowley taught Stile and students like him. Despite the time passed since his class, Stile was so affected by Rowley that he nominated him for a Provo Way Award, our Board of Education’s way of celebrating our students, teachers, and staff whose deeds uphold and uplift our community.
We’re incredibly grateful for Shane Rowley and Stile Crandall’s nomination. Stile’s reflections on Rowley’s positive impact through actions—both past and present—are pretty heartwarming. Stile shares, “I was very sad due to troubles with a friend, but Mr. Rowley visited me and my family, and it made me feel a lot better.”
According to Stile, Rowley still visits him and his family to give him a birthday treat, which he still does, even to this day.
“I’m really grateful,” Stile says. “He is an amazing teacher.”
We wholeheartedly agree; Shane Rowley is an amazing teacher and an incredible human being. Thank you, Shane, for all you do for Provo.
