Parents and Provo community members that are interested are invited to apply to serve on one of two committees for Provo City School District.  The available committees are the Community Connection Committee and the Parent Advisory Committee.

Community Connection Committee

Purpose: To provide feedback to the Board of Education and district leadership about specific issues they are considering.

Who: This committee is composed of a variety of community members, such as parents representing each of our elementary school boundaries, local business owners, retired residents, and members of other community organizations.

Scope: The committee will receive a specific topic and question related to the topic. After several meetings to gather information and discuss together, the committee will provide feedback to the Board of Education. The committee functions in an advisory role only, helping the Board weigh big questions and giving them an idea what the community thinks about each issue.

Commitment: 2-year commitment; meet monthly on Thursdays at noon at the district office. Lunch will be provided.

Please note that half of the members will finish their term each year. Because we are just initiating this committee, half of the members accepted this year will only serve for 1 year. If a 1-year term is better for you than a 2-year term, please indicate in the form.

Parent Advisory Committee

Purpose: This committee provides space for parents of students enrolled in Provo City School District to share their experiences in our schools. The committee ensures that all voices are heard as we strive to fulfill our mission to Welcome, Educate, and Inspire all students and families within our district.

Who: Parents of current students enrolled in our schools in Provo City School District.

Scope: Parents on this committee should reflect the diverse demographic of Provo and communicate their students’ experiences as seen from their perspective. Information from this committee will inform district- and school-based leaders as we create positive school cultures where all students feel successful, welcome, safe, and cared for.

Commitment: Members of the committee would serve for two years provided that they have a student enrolled in Provo City School District. The committee will meet four times each year in the evening. Each meeting will last no more than two hours.
