“We love you so much, Stormi. It’s only been a couple of years, but you’ve made such a difference in our music program here at the school,” said Provo Peaks Elementary Success Coach Kim Gishi; she nominated Provo Peaks Elementary Music Teacher Stormi Winscot for the Provo Way Award.
The Provo City School District and Board of Education awarded five Provo Way awards last month. The Provo Way Award is an opportunity for the district to celebrate the positive things students, teachers, administrators, parents, and staff do for the community.
This week, we congratulate Winscot for receiving the Provo Way Award. It takes a great music teacher to take each student across all skill levels to build musical literacy and competency, but like finding the correct key for a tune, you know it when you hear it. These teachers are those whose work inspires others to march along and join in; a great music teacher makes learning as infectious as a good song. Winscot’s effect on student interest in music has led to a boost in student sign-ups for choice– part of why Gishi nominated her for the award. To quote:
“The kids are excited to be here and love being around you. Seeing how many kids joined the choir this year is a testament to your work, and we love you so much.”
Thank you, Stormy, and congratulations on the award.
