Lance Vandermark has been hired as the Assistant Principal at Franklin Elementary School.

Lance Vandermark is a seasoned educator with over a decade of teaching experience across many elementary grades in our district and is a firm advocate and support for our at-risk students as a current Title I Coordinator.

Lance received a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree from Brigham Young University in 2009, where he then joined our district as a 2nd-grade intern at Sunset View in the 2008–2009 school year. Seeing Lance as a perfect fit for our community, the school took Vandermark on as a 4th-grade teacher the following year. He then taught 2nd grade for three years and 5th grade for two years. He began his Master’s in Educational Leadership at Southern Utah University while teaching 6th grade over the next two years.

After a decade spent in the classrooms at Sunset View, Lance applied and became the school’s Title I Coordinator, where he has served our community for the past six years (counting this school year).

As the Title 1 Coordinator, Lance has enhanced communication and collaboration at Sunset View Elementary, facilitating federally funded programs for economically disadvantaged students. This prior experience equips him with valuable resource allocation and relationship-building skills, and alongside his veteran status as a teacher, qualifies and prepares him to transition seamlessly into his role as Assistant Principal at Franklin Elementary.

Lance is excited and ready to make a positive impact in his new role. We are excited for him to join the students, parents, staff, faculty, and administration at Franklin Elementary.
