Timpview High School FBLA/DECA Shines at USU Aggie Invitational

Timpview High School’s FBLA and DECA clubs recently performed at the Utah State University (USU) Aggie Invitational. These talented young individuals competed and secured top honors in various categories, showcasing their dedication and skill on a grand stage. We congratulate these students for their events achievements and for representing Timpview with excellence and distinction. Moreover, we commend all those who participate: these events empower students; every student leaves a little more emboldened to take action and propel themselves toward their desired careers.

The Aggie Invitational, to quote the USU web page, “is an event for Utah DECA and FBLA students to be recognized and rewarded in a broad range of business and career-related areas. Students will have the opportunity to compete in events while also participating in fun activities to get them excited about college. The Aggie Invitational will also help to prepare students for their region and state DECA and FBLA competitions.”

For those unfamiliar, DECA is a nonprofit organization readying students for marketing, finance, hospitality, and management careers worldwide. FBLA Future Business Leaders of America’s division focuses on academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs, giving students a well-rounded experience. Both club competitions involve written components, such as exams and reports, and interactive sessions where industry professionals act as judges. 

Students tackled simulative role-play scenarios, each day of the competition requiring practical execution using their class-learned business acumen alongside on-the-fly problem-solving.

We proudly announce that a few of our students have placed highly in the events:

• Isabella Hanson earned 1st place in the “Social Media Strategies” event (individual).
• Cash Isom, Zion Au, and Rik Toma earned 1st place in the “Social Media Strategies” event (team).
• Yul Kwon earned 2nd place in the “Social Media Strategies” event (individual).

All of our students, however, learned more about future career paths, practiced skills required for future competitions and careers, and bonded with their peers.

As we celebrate the achievements of the Timpview High School students in the Aggie Invitational, we recognize that developing work-related skills is essential during these competitions, but more invaluable is the self-empowerment that comes through competing with your peers. Gaining self-actualization is as vital a skill.

Students leave events like these realizing they can accomplish whatever they are willing to work towards.
