Just before the end of the school year, incoming Superintendent Wendy Dau visited several of our schools, where students, teachers, faculty, and parents had a chance to ask questions and learn more about her. We recorded these conversations and will share them for the next few months in the hopes you’ll get to know Wendy on a more personal level.
In this ninth installment, Wendy visited with a teacher representative, Lindsay Baccus. Lindsay asked Wendy how she envisions assessments. Wendy says that she believes in assessing the district’s current assessment-related strengths and weaknesses before making any judgment calls.
Wendy then shared her favored, data-driven approach using informal assessments, leaning on Professional Learning Communities to allow teachers ownership over tailored classroom instruction.
