Jared Tucker and Melanie Bliss, teachers at Slate Canyon Secure Care Facility, are among 20 educators who will be recognized as Utah’s American Graduate Champions at the 38th Annual Conference of Agencies and Organizations Serving Promising Youth made possible by the Utah Education Network (UEN) at Snowbird Resort on May 12, 2017.
Tucker is a Youth in Care Lead Teacher and motivates students to broaden their learning and sek GEDs, Credit Recovery and ACT preparation. “With his varied experience with multiple subjects, Jared can really help students understand and work through their academic challenges,” a colleague said.
Bliss serves youth at Slate Canyon not only as a teacher but as an administrative assistant, too. She uses experience and talent to create opportunities for students, including the Scholastic Bowl and the Bicycle Repair program. A colleague of Bliss said, “She works tirelessly to ensure students have a good experience when they are in the facility.”
Congratulations to you both!
