Provo City School District is proud to announce Custodial Services Coordinator Jeff Hawkins as the latest elected President of the Cleaning Industry Trainers Guild (CITG). As he explains, “The CITG consists of cleaning professionals around the nation who are committed to promoting the health, safety, cleanliness and professionalism within institutions.”
Hawkins regularly utilizes nationally recognized cleaning programs that are designed to implement safe and clean custodial programs daily. Professionals within the custodial industry are committed to sanitation. By using standardized OS1 cleaning processes, a program currently employed by ten schools within the district, Hawkins and his team promote healthy cleaning practices daily. Other facilities who actively engage in the OS1 cleaning program include the United States Postal Service, FBI Training Academy, Sandia National Labs and multiple universities through out the country.
A highlight of Hawkins career includes the ways in which he enriches people’s lives within the district. “One of the most rewarding aspects of my career coincides with student success and the sanitation of the buildings students learn in. Research shows that the cleanliness of a facility directly correlates with student test scores, number of absences accumulated and overall learning. It means a lot to me knowing that the standard of comfort within a school directly affects students success overall.”
