Draft Culture of Belonging Statement

This is a draft of the Culture of Belonging Statement.  You can use the Policy Feedback to provide feedback until May 24, 2024 and the School Board will vote on the final version at the May 28, 2024 Board Meeting.

In Provo City School District, we prioritize the well-being and success of every member of our community, including employees, students, parents, families, and residents.  Embracing the rich diversity within our district, we recognize it as a source of strength.  The intentional creation of supportive educational and social experiences for all is built on these premises:

  • We firmly believe in the potential of every student to learn, and we understand that creating an environment conducive to learning is a shared responsibility among students, staff, teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians. This involves fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and support.
  • We welcome collaboration and teamwork from all members of our community, valuing their varying perspectives and experiences.
  • Our approach prioritizes equitable distribution of resources, including funding, programs, policies, initiatives, and supports, to address the varied needs of students and families.  This ensures equitable access to high-quality education and extracurricular opportunities for all students.

Above all, Provo City School District is committed to providing a supportive, safe, and understanding environment. As we prepare students to contribute positively to our vibrant community, we strive to foster a culture where every individual feels safe, valued, and a sense of belonging within our educational spaces.
